The In-Between Season with God | How to Trust God While Waiting...

Do you feel like you're in the "In-Between" season with God in your life? I can so relate, but I want to encourage you to not discredit the in-between as this is when growth takes place. It is so important to align yourself with the word of God or else the in-between will bring forth failure, endless tears, unaligned priorities, bad decisions, pointless detours, and false hope. How do I know this? Lets's just say, that I spent 20 years in-between and in hindsight that was far too long. It was similar to the 11 day journey that turned into 40 years where the children of Israel spent wandering in the wilderness - see Deuteronomy 1 and Numbers 4 to get all the details on their endless journey.
Let's fast forward to my current "in-between" season with God, it started in November 2024. Back in November 2024, I received a prophetic word from God (our Heavenly Father). This word was filled with so many promises that caused my heart to skip a beat and my pulse to race due to the sheer excitement I felt deep within my soul. Here I am today, Monday, July 27, 2026 at 10:04 PM wondering when is that promise going to be fulfilled or if I am on the right path. I know that I am, because of the confirmation I received from God in May of this year. Unfortunately, doubt makes every attempt to creep in my mind. I find myself wondering when will the prophetic word come to fruition. Two weeks ago, I was preparing my message for my weekly Bible Study between my neice and I as we decided to study the book of Luke. During my study of Luke 2:1-52, verse 52 leaped off the pages in my Bible and resonated deep within my soul.
Now, let's slow down to focus on how Jesus spent His time during the "in-between" in verse 52... "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."
Jesus grew: we should never discredit the in-between because growth is happening although it does not look that way. Jesus was mentioned at birth in verse 7, in verse 42 it only mentioned that He grew, and finally in verse 42 it mentions that He was 12 years old. Well what happened to his "In-between?" What did He do during the first 12 years of His life? I am uncertain, but I know for sure growth happened. I don't know about you, but I desire that kind growth as I don't want my "in-between" season to be in vain. Just imagine, you plant a mango seed and when the tree grew it only had leaves - no mangoes. That would be devastating.
Wisdom: we get wiser in the in-between, well if you draw close to God.
Stature: physical growth occurs in the in-between season with God
Favor: we accumulate favor from God and man while were traveling through the in-between. Favor means more than receiving favoritism, it means Divine provision, protection, and blessings. Favor also means approval bestowed by God, preferential treatment, kindness, success, unmerited grace, and that it is unearned or unconditional.
Don't worry about who does not recognize you or will even give you the time of day during your "in-between season." Trust and believe that God will open the eyes and the minds of the people whom He choses. He will allow the right people to recognize your gifts, talents, calling, and your worth. A handful of people were able to recognize Jesus during his "In-between" years such asThe Shepherds in vs. 8-18, Mary in v. 19, Simeon in vs. 28-35, and Anna the widow in vs. 36-38. They recognized his worth, and that Jesus was our savior while others could not see it.
Jesus did not complain during His "in-between" he stewarded His time with excellence. He sat among the teachers in the temple, listened to their teachings, and asked questions. That's what we ought to do in the "in-between" season of our lives, unlike how the children of Israel who complained which extended their time in the wilderness.
So here's some practical application I received from Luke 2:46:
Sit. Listen. Ask
Sit with God & Jesus
Listen to His voice, but you must be silent with no distractions to hear Him
Ask God to grow you in stature, wisdom, and favor with Him & people
